Why you aren't burning more fat

A KEY ELEMENT TO BURNING MORE FAT

WHAT we do for our workouts and WHAT we eat is super important…those 2 items are a huge part of the fat loss equation.  But what if I told you that you can burn more fat? What if there was even MORE to it?  That maybe that’s only half of the equation?  What if I told you that LIFE and how you deal with plays a primary role in your fat loss journey?  What if I told you that STRESS is why you aren’t burning more fat?

We all have stress in our lives.  Maybe it’s small or maybe it’s big. Maybe you have a loved one battling an illness, maybe your relationship is on the rocks, maybe your job is always in limbo, maybe you have a child who is facing some trials.  We ALL have our own battles we are dealing with which causes MAJOR stress in our lives.

And here’s the thing, some of us can handle it better than others. We are all wired differently.  Some people can face a trial and know that it’s a temporary season.  They seem to be able to plow through it completely effortlessly.  Then there are others who truly struggle. They are stuck in the moment and can’t see to the other side.

So, this is where you might be surprised!  If you have your fat loss eating NAILED, and you are doing your fat loss workouts for 30 minutes or less a day and STILL not making progress…you might be under the STRESS CYCLE. And this cycle can keep you from burning more fat.

HOW STRESS IS KEEPING YOU FROM BURNING MORE FAT

Did you know that the same part of our brain that turns stress ON can also turn OFF our digestion?  Yep, we have what’s called the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) which is responsible for stimulation the digestive process.  Within this system there are 2 branches: the parasympathetic and the sympathetic.

The parasympathetic branch relaxes the body and turns ON digestion. The sympathetic branch turns OFF digestion when we are in a fight or flight (aka STRESS)  situation.

When we sit down to eat a meal while we are undergoing stressful situations, our sympathetic branch kicks in.  This off switch in digestion can lead to some major distress in our systems.  There can be a decrease in nutrient absorption and unwanted fat storage.

BUT, when we sit down to eat while relaxed and at ease, our parasympathetic system takes over.  Our relaxation response is turned on and a healthy digestion cycle takes place. Nutrient absorption is increased and our calorie burning is amplified.

IT’S MORE THAN WORKOUTS AND BALANCED EATING TO BURN FAT OPTIMALLY!

So, YES, get your workouts in and get that balanced nutrition on point!  But if that still isn’t working, do a check on your stress levels while you’re eating. It is scientifically IMPOSSIBLE for your body to release weight or heal when it is under a stress response!!!!  Figure out what’s affecting  you!  What can you change? How can you heal?  And then watch your fat loss journey take on a whole new dynamic!!!
